It was early in 2006 when our Infinability Leader Development Director and auto repair shop owner, Barry Hartzel, came up with an idea to incorporate more of the elements we use in Infinability into his life and business activities. So Barry came up with a simple morning meeting to have with himself and his technicians at his business. The meeting had each person state their answer to only two questions. The first question was to describe the best part of yesterday or what they learned or found useful from the day. The second question was to state what they intend to produce or accomplish today and how they intend to be in order to have that happen. That was the extent of the meeting, and with three people it took less than 15 minutes each morning.

A month or so later, Barry reported with no small amount of enthusiasm some impressive results from these daily meetings. Things were getting done more efficiently and needing far less attention from Barry. In fact, Barry was able to leave for a planned vacation (which he rarely did in the past because of the mess he always returned to find and deal with) and came back to find no stack of phone calls to make, no problems to deal with or any drop in production or income to the business.  It was as if he was there all the time.

We knew there would be an improvement, but these simple questions, asked every day, created a dramatic change in the way his staff related to one another and how much more they cared for their work.....far beyond what Barry or we at Infinability imagined would happen. Barry added a third question to the daily meeting that had each of them declare one of the values that the business stands for to operate from during the day as well. And they began to see even more business coming their way, so much new business that they were seeing record numbers during what was normally the slow time of the year.

With these impressive results we began incorporating the idea among our Infinability team. Since we don't share a common work location, we devised a way to do it by phone. The PowerUp Call™ is working terrifically and we are still doing it!
